Science Programs in El

Earth Spinning

I enjoyed this class and let me just say first I thought Vickie did a great job of teaching us information that we will need in our future.

I have learned that science needs to be integrated into daily activities, to many teachers neglect it and it is a crucial part of our world today that needs to be learned.

I have also learned how to teach a science lesson. I had never taught science until the class which was a great experience for me and hopefully to the children.

I have learned about activities and options I can go to to teach science. I have learned that it doesnt have to be about the book, but about experiences and knowledge.

.

Education Standards Addressed:

Strand I-Content of Science, Standard I (Physical Science) Understand the structure and properties of matter, the characteristics of energy, and the interactions between matter and energy.

Benchmark 3.1, 2- Observe that things move in many different ways (e.g., straight line, vibration, circular).  Know that the position and motion of an object (direction or speed) are changed by pushing or pulling it

Strand I- Language Arts, Standard I (Reading and Listening for Comprehension) Students will apply strategies and skills to comprehend information that is read, heard, and viewed

Look at pictures and read information in flip charts, books and discuss information. Play music, experiment with magnets and objects. Discuss the motions spinning and flying as well.

Assessment:

Worksheets, observations, drawings, dictated stories, rubrics, and questions with answers.

Closure
