Reading Reflections

One great excitement of life

February 25th
Leonardo & the Terrible Monster is the cutest book in the world!! It takes like two mintues to read. It would be great for little kids, and it really shows a great moral as well. I guarantee this book will make you laugh and smile.

Just started reading Woodsong , read the first couple chapters and man this book is pretty intense. It is something I would not have read if I picked it out myself. At parts it was making me a little sick, I guess I really just try to picture the scene and imagine exactly what is going on and man, I had to stop reading for a little bit! The author does a really good job of describing nature, animals and his dogs. It will be interesting to see the sixlets reaction to the book!

I have really been reading into my genre. It is...very different. It reminds me of something a teenager would like, and that teenager being in his own other world. The books are very long as well. I am glad I was able to read this genre however because I would have not if I had the choice. I will be better educated if I have a student who enjoys this genre.

I finished read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets- for the third time. I have been through the series twice and starting on it again. Everytime I read it, I read new things, I find stuff I missed the first time. The Harry Potter series is the only books I have found I can read and read again. There is just so much going on and so much excitment. I am a Harry Potter geek!

I just finished reading my 100th book! I have learned and have read so much this past semester. It is just amazing. I have definitely read more books and genres than I would have never read unless for this class. It really opened my eyes to another part of the world; actually, many many parts of the world. I feel confident now in helping students try and find books and genres that they would like and love to read.

April 22nd
I know I kind of touched on this subject in my last reflection but this week in class we talked about our readerly lives. Now that were winding up I really am just taking a step back and saying, "wow, i read alot, and I enjoyed it". I also found that when I read, I feel like a child and all those great emotions come up when I am reading. I have learned while reading that maybe I am not very into a certain book, or a certain genre, but when I come across a student who likes these certain books, I can show and connect with them in their readerly lives. It also made me realize with Katie coming and speaking to us that so many connections can be made between writing and reading. There are so many ways in which student can read, write and enjoy it all.
