Today was our first day with Mrs. Bradshaw's class . It was a little easier for me, because I have been working with this class on Friday's. So I know the children a little more and so felt more comfortable and at ease.

I amn working with LaQueena and Bain and both really have a great personality. Today we worked with them on their I am Poem's. They had already started making a web so we helped them continue it. I notice LaQueena was excited to write and wrote and did exactly what I could have asked for. Bain on the other hand, gets distracted-very easily. It was really hard for him to focus on his Poem. He kept on bringing up other subjects and  I didnt want to cut him off and be mean about it, so some times I let him talk about whatever and sometimes I would cut him off. He ended up getting alot of his ideas down. Both of them at this point need to start writing it on paper.

Today we worked with our students again and with Mrs. Bradshaw. Since Halloween is so close we did a Halloween story with the four squares mapping organization tool. The stories were cute and it was a fun topic to write about. I had trouble with Bane though. At times he would just NOT write, and it's not like it was a hard subject to write about, it was fun. I think he just does not enjoy at all the idea of writing, and it's not like you can say, "Pick up your pencil and write now!!!!".(although i felt the urge just a little bit:-) LaQueena was able to complete all of her story and Bane got all of his four square done.

Today we worked in our groups and started our Family Story. Bane was absent for a little over half of it, so we were able to get the idea of the Superbowl being his family story. For LaQueena, she decided her family story would be about last year's Halloween. He and her family eat a creepy dinner, get dressed up and go trick-r-treating; sounds alot of fun. We did a four square for her ideas. Both of the students at times I felt I was ripping teeth. But once they got an idea they just rolled with it and I didnt have to do a whole lot except guide them. I was a pretty good 1st session overall.

Nov.13th
I was out of town the week before so I havent seen the students for two weeks. I was sad because the girl I was working with, LaQuenna moved, I didnt get to say goodbye or get her whole story-she is a great kid. When I started working with Bain today we looked for the Superbowl draft we had and could not find it. Very irritating, so we had to start over, and Bain decided to change his story to camping. Which personally I like better. But we really had some good progress today. We got the draft just about done. It was funny because he was telling me the story and then he started to say, "Well I'm not sure if that's true, I cant remember", pretty funny. But we went on and i'm looking forward to the publishing  of  his work.

Nov. 20th
Today Bain and I worked on his story, he helped edit it, he worked on his picture for his story and we were done. I feel like Bain became alot more excited when he saw how I had typed it up on my computer. He said it made him feel important, and I just thought that was just the cutest and greatest thing to say. I think that is one part to their stories and presenting, feeling important and gaining confidence in yourself and your writing.

Dec.4th
Today we did our Rehearsal for the Author's Chair and Bain wasnt there! But I think he is a very verbal person and outgoing, so I am hoping presenting will not faze him. I liked the students stories, I just hope when there families are there they will be able to speak up a little more! Just sad to see great stories written that cannot be heard! I think in William's case a student could have read for him. I have learned during the UNM courses to accomidate for students who have trouble with example, Presenting. I saw though how sometimes we come to problems and w each have to handle it a way that is professional but friendly.
